The Columbus Auto Show, Exotics on Scioto Mile, the Arena District Meet, and the long-anticipated return of the Season Opener Party were all affected. We couldn't start the season in late March or early April like we usually do. We had to have "virtual meets" on Instagram Live before we had any real ones, and the real ones required face masks and new social distancing rules.
Despite the challenges, we're proud of the season we put together. The feedback has been immensely positive, especially as our meets became one of the few events one could still enjoy in a COVID-19 world. Our carefully considered COVID-19 policies enabled us to salvage a large portion of the season and to do so safely.
We want to recognize our amazing sponsors for staying with us during this complex year. None of them backed out when the season couldn't start on time, and none of them withdrew their support for our community. We appreciate their dedication immeasurably, and we'd like to reiterate our gratitude to Hagerty, Byers Imports, ESOTERIC, Lindsay Acura, The Motor Enclave, Libertas Wealth Management, K2 Retail Development, Patriot Stainless and Welding, and VF Engineering for making this year possible.
Our dedicated volunteers ensured organized and enjoyable experiences for everyone again this year. Adrian Shellabarger, Josh Conison, Brian Shaw, Kyle Hennosy, Michael Walker, and Collin Thomas are always busy behind the scenes directing traffic, setting up tents, welcoming drivers, and delivering the high quality experiences our community has come to expect. The Cars and Coffee volunteers have become a family over the years and we can't thank them enough for all they do!
Lastly, but certainly not least, our community itself rose to the occasion of 2020 in numerous ways. Our friends at Alterra Real Estate provided us with a great location (available for lease!) when one of our "go to" spots wasn't available for the year. Our members and visitors wore masks and reminded others to do the same. The turnouts were as large or larger than normal for the majority of the year. We even had a couple of helicopters join us at the Lindsay Acura Cars and Copters event in August! We appreciate all of the enthusiasm, kind words, and understanding shown to us throughout the season.
As we look ahead to Season 13, we hope to bring back the larger-scale events. In any case, we have helped set the standard for how to host car shows safely with or without COVID, and we're excited to present our biggest and best season ever in 2021.
In the mean time, enjoy your winter, stay safe, and we'll see you early next year!
